Record turnout for Laddies Loppet
A record turnout of racers competed at Maplelag Resort over Labor Day
weekend, with just over 400 participants among the various classes.
Taking the Pro division were TJ Woodruff of Tucson, Ariz., and Jenna Rinehart of Mankato.
Both riders collected their third win in as many years.
Local riders competing included Tony Schmitz of Detroit Lakes, who was fifth
in the 35-39 age class in the Sport category.
Jens Richards of Callaway was first in the boys' eight and under Kids' Comp category and Jake
Richards -- also of Callaway -- was second in Junior 18 and under in the Elite
Minnesota Pro Kyia Anderson of St. Cloud led a skill clinic on the technical and challenging terrain, offering participants a
chance to improve on bike handling skills.
The Maplelag race was part of the Minnesota State Championship Series (MNSCS) and the USA
Cycling National calendar, serving as a qualifier for the U.S. Mountain Bike Championships, to be held in Colorado, July 2010.
