Report finds 53% of third graders have cavities
Minnesota's first comprehensive oral health plan includes new information that while tooth decay is nearly 100 percent preventable, it is still one of Minnesota's most common chronic childhood diseases, with 55 percent of third graders surveyed in 2010 experiencing tooth decay.
This compares to the national rate of 53 percent for children 6 to 8 years old.
