Rhonda Van Wechel

Former Wolverton resident Rhonda K. Van Wechel, 51, of Detroit Lakes, died on Friday January 9, 2009 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Rhonda Kay Van Wechel was born to Lorentz and Elvera (Affield) Van Wechel on March 15, 1957 in Breckenridge, Minn. The youngest of five children, Rhonda resided with her family until she was 21. She attended available special education classes in the Breckenridge and Barnesville, Minn., public school systems.
Rhonda's last two years of education were at the Central Education Center in Audubon. In 1978, she moved to the Smith Group Home in Frazee, and began attending the Becker County DAC at that time. Rhonda lived at the Group Home until November 2008, when she became a resident of the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
A happy person by nature, Rhonda will be loved and remembered by many, including her brothers, Dennis (Phyllis) Van Wechel of Wolverton and Neil (Mary) Van Wechel of Phoenix, Ariz.; her sisters, LaVonne (John) Fischer of Park Rapids and Myrna Vlaminck of Minneota, Minn.; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Rhonda's parents preceded her in death.
A celebration of Rhonda's life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel in Detroit Lakes, with inurnment to follow at Knollwood Cemetery in Fergus Falls.
