Richard Thomas ("Dick") LaBarre, 87, De-troit Lakes, Minnesota, died Friday, April 18, 2014 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.

Dick, the son of Leo-pold and Marie (Rivard) LaBarre, was born on Ju-ly 3, 1926 in Starkweather, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Devils Lake, N.D.

As a young man, Dick served in the United States Army until receiv-ing a medical discharge. He was united in mar-riage to Ruth Schiller on December 31, 1949 in Wadena. They made their home in International Falls, Wadena and Cali-fornia, until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1957.

Dick was employed at Schiller Insurance, ERA Northland Realty, and owned Lakes Credit Bu-reau. Throughout his sales career, Dick's true passion was developing lakeshore and other properties in Becker County.

Throughout his life, Dick enjoyed his hobby farms, collecting coins and antiques. Dick was known as a great story-teller, and would recite poems and songs from memory. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Surviving Dick are his sons, David (Patricia) LaBarre of Detroit Lakes, Kevin (Cheryl) LaBarre of Wadena, Tom (Kim) LaBarre of Chaska and Mark (Barbara) LaBarre of Willmar; daughters, Michele (Michael) Klug of La Crosse, Wis., Annette (David) Watson of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., and Heidi (Ken) Schumacher of Fargo; 21 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; son-in-law, Robert Corradi of Hibbing,; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special people in his life, Brenda Hayden and Mike Kertscher.

Preceding Dick in death were his parents; wife, Ruth (2005); son, Paul LaBarre; daughter, Charlene Corradi; and his many loving siblings.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 21, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Fu-neral Home, Detroit Lakes.

A mass of Christian burial is set for 12 noon Tuesday, April 22 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Wadena.
