Funeral mass was held for Richelle Monson, 43, of Perham, at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20 in St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Matthew Kuhn officiating.
The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Ann Dardis. The pallbearers were Steve Fode, Craig Aldrich, Brian Sazama, Jeremy Ekese, Mike Carlson and Randy Vroman.
Honorary pallbearers were all of Richelle's nieces and nephews. Richelle was laid to rest in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Perham, Minnesota.
Richelle Kay Harvala was born on June 21, 1969 in Moorhead. Her parents were the late Richard and Joan (Keeping) Harvala, Sr. Richelle graduated from Detroit Lakes High School with the Class of 1987 and she was employed at Taco John's in Detroit Lakes. After high school she attended Moorhead Technical College and received a degree as a dental hygienist. She returned to Detroit Lakes, where she managed Taco John's.
On July 31, 1993 Richelle was united in marriage to Scott Michael Monson at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Perham. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Weston and Jake. Richelle enjoyed being a mother and later was employed at Eagles Café.
She attended Wadena Technical College, received her accounting degree and was employed at Lund Boats. For the past six years, Richelle had been employed at Rising Phoenix in Wadena, where she became a part of their family. She enjoyed spending her weekends at the lake and reading. Richelle loved and adored her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
On April 15, 2013 Richelle passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home at 43 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding Richelle in death were her parents, Richard Sr. and Joan; stepfather, Tom Atkins; grandparents, Alice and George Keeping, Eugene and Margret Harvala and Anna Siedschlag; father-in-law, Kenny Monson; brother-in-law, Ricky Monson; uncles, James and George Keeping; and aunt, Marcia (Keeping) Neisius.
Surviving Richelle are her husband, Scott "Cooter" Monson; her sons, Weston Monson and Jake Monson; stepmother, Linda Atkins; mother-in-law, Diane Monson; grandparents-in-law, Dale and Monica Monson; siblings, Angela (Matt) Harvala-Asleson, Diana (Jason) Carlson, Sara (Brad) Moen, Richard (Stacie) Harvala Jr., Michael (Jessica) Harvala and Daniel (Dee) Harvala; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vern (Tammy) Monson, Tim (Mary) Monson, Jesse (friend, Ashley) Monson and Kari (Nate) Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, whom she adored; many other relatives and a host of friends.
