Rick Getz, 60, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville, with Pastor Colin Grangaard officiating.
Burial will follow in Moorhead Memorial Gardens in Moorhead.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville. It will continue for one hour prior to Thursday's services at the church.
Rick Don Getz was born to Donald and Barbara (Berglund) Getz on September 9, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Rick grew up in Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1971. He attended Moorhead Technical College. He worked as shop foreman at Getz Chevrolet of Barnesville from 1971 to 1988. Rick later worked construction for Aggregate and Turner Sand and Gravel.
Rick's favorite times were riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed his dogs, Rupert and Harley. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Rick was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed spending time with his fiance, Char Eiman.
Surviving Rick are his father Don Getz of Detroit Lakes; sister Julie (Tom Barten) Kassick of Bloomington; niece Megan Kassick of Boston, Mass.; nephew Brandon Kassick of Bloomington and fiance Char Eiman of Barnesville.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Barbara Getz, and his grandparents, Leonard and Ann Getz and Alfred and Blanche Berglund.
