Robert R. Holmer, 75, of Frazee, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at St. Mary's Innovis hospital in Detroit Lakes.
Robert R. Holmer was born to Harry and Elizabeth Holmer on Aug. 24, 1933 in Frazee. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Evergreen at the time of his death. He attended school at District 91, then went to Frazee School, where he graduated.
Robert farmed in Evergreen Township most of his life, before moving to Frazee, where he resided at Rivercrest Apartments until the end of June 2008. He then moved to the Frazee Care Center, where he resided until the time of his death.
Bob enjoyed trapping gophers and winter furs for many years, and was teaching his grandsons about trapping and hunting. Bob also hunted small game.
One of his greatest joys in life was watching his grandson, Brady, wrestle. He traveled every Saturday with his daughter, Beth, to Mat Rat tournaments. He also enjoyed watching the Frazee Hornet wrestling team. Robert enjoyed and loved being with his family, including his four grandsons and one granddaughter.
Surviving Robert are his wife, Betty; daughters, Brenda (Wayne) Windahl of Warroad, Minn., and Beth (Randy) Breitenfeldt of Frazee; his son, Robert Jr. (Sue) Holmer of Frazee; four grandsons, one granddaughter and two step-grandsons; brothers, Donald (Hub) and Harry Holmer; and sisters, Lucille, Ethel, Betty, Alice and Donna.
Preceding Robert in death are his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Holmer; sister, Evelyn; and brothers, Len, Elmer, Vern and Jerry.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call for one hour prior to the service at St. Paul's on Saturday.
Memorial services for Robert are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Evergreen, Frazee, with the Rev. Anthony Cloose officiating. Arrangements are being provided by the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee.
