Ronald "Ron" Berglund, 77, of Moorhead, died on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Ronald Peter Burton Berglund was born to Alfred and Blanche (Strum) Berglund on May 12, 1935 in Moorhead. He grew up at Comstock, Minn., and upon his graduation the family moved to Moorhead.
Ron married Cheryl Lien on July 17, 1954 in Fargo. They lived in the Fargo-West Fargo area, as well as Grand Forks, before settling in Detroit Lakes, where they lived for 30 years. In 2007, they moved to Moorhead.
Ron worked as a painter with Rothhouse Construction and Asp Construction before starting his own business, Berglund Decorating. He was a subcontractor for many construction companies in the area.
Ron, more affectionately known as "Snowflake," was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, along with watching sports (especially basketball and NASCAR). Ron and Cheryl were also members of the Eagles Club.
Surviving Ron are his wife Cheryl, of Moorhead; three children, Shelly (Dewey) Joyce of Fargo, Terri (Dave) Heil of Fargo and Greg Berglund of Detroit Lakes; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Preceding Ron in death were three children, Mark Berglund, Paula Holm and Kim Anderson; his parents; and five sisters.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 in St. Andrew Lutheran Church, West Fargo, with burial in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
