Ronald G. Gillund, 69, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, June 13, 2014 as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident south of Detroit Lakes.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church, Pastor Dale Robins, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. The visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Ronald Gene Gillund was born to Harvey and Ella (Brown) Gillund on June 30, 1944 in Fargo. He was raised in Fargo and is a 1962 graduate of Fargo Central High School and a 1967 graduate of the North Dakota State University School of Pharmacy.

Ron was united in marriage to Kaye Gullekson in 1966 in Fargo. He worked as a pharmacist in Minot, Crookston, Bismarck, Hastings, Red Wing, Duluth and Salt Lake City, Utah. He and Kaye later divorced.

Upon retiring from the pharmacy, Ron moved to Detroit Lakes, where he drove truck and was a sports photographer for Yary-White Sports Photography.

Ron enjoyed time with his grandchildren, dancing, help-ng others, being involved with the Republican Party, and music. He was active in the Jaycees and served as a Jaycee I senator.

Survivors include a son, Tony (Lee Ann) Gillund of Duluth; a daughter, Alycia (Joe) Stringfield of Frazee; four grandchildren, Jonah and Samantha Gillund, Jacob and Lindsay Stringfield; and a brother, Jerry Gillund of Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents a brother, Burnell "Bernie" and sister, Betty Erickson.
