Ronald Joseph Landry passed away on Septem-ber 15, 2013, in Oldsmar, Fla., at age 86.
Ron was born May 17, 1927 in Duluth, Minn., graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School and attended Duluth Junior College. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served aboard the S.S. Nereus as a submarine tender. He saw action in the Philippines and in Japan, and was at Nagasaki and Sasebo. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
He started his career with Standard Oil as a territory manager and trainer in Minnesota and North Dakota. He lived in Detroit Lakes and retired in 1985 after 38 years of service.
His hobbies were golf, fishing, poker and an af-ternoon at the horse track. He was an active member of the Lake Avenue Lousey's in Duluth and a longtime member of Detroit Lakes Country Club.
Surviving Ron are his wife Nancy; daughter Jane (John) Munn; son Jim (Judy); four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Patti.
Preceding him in death were his son Bob; brother Jerry; and parents, Joe and Gertrude.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12 noon Saturday, Sept. 21 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, with visitation for an hour before the service. A celebration of life will follow at the Shorewood Pub.
