Roseau man killed in ATV accident

A Roseau, Minn., man was killed Tuesday afternoon in an ATV accident on a town frontage road, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Don Byfuglien, 53, was driving a recreational vehicle along the frontage road of state Highway 11 in Roseau when the ATV hit a 1997 Ford Aspire driven by Joann Eisele, 51, of Middle River, Minn.

Byfuglien was thrown from the ATV. He was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, according to the patrol. He was transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, where he was pronounced dead. Eisele was not injured in the incident.

Byfuglien is the uncle of NHL star and Roseau native Dustin Byfuglien, who plays for the Winnipeg Jets.
