Ruby Bertha Adkins, 95, of Detroit Lakes, went to the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Ruby was born the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Schlenz) Habedank on September 23, 1916 in Ada, Minn. Ruby met her husband, Clarence Eugene "Gene" Adkins, and they were united in marriage on March 28, 1936 in Ada. Together they raised three children, Clifford, Shirley and Patricia (Patty).
Ruby and Gene moved to Iowa for one year before returning to Ada in 1940. They began farming until 1954, when they moved to Crookston, Minn. They resided there until 1960, when they moved to Detroit Lakes, where Ruby's husband and son started Adkins Equipment Company. She worked as their bookkeeper until 1965.
In November of 2010, Ruby moved to Emmanuel Nursing Home.
Surviving Ruby are her three children, Clifford (Janice) Adkins of Detroit Lakes, Shirley (Dennis) Hasbrouck of Crookston and Patricia (Robert) Adams of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother, Stanley (Ramona) Habedank of Twin Valley, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ruby in death were her parents; husband, Clarence; one brother, Alvin; and two sisters, Edna Mulder and Ethel Wallace.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
