Former Barnesville resident Ruth E. Carlson, 80, of Detroit Lakes, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Detroit Lakes, after a battle with cancer.

Ruth Elizabeth Janneck was born to Harold and Amie Janneck on April 24, 1929 in Barnesville, where she attended school, and was gifted in her musical abilities. She sang with her family, and performed at funerals, weddings and school productions. She belonged to St. James United Church of Christ of Barnesville and was active in teaching Sunday and Bible school while her children were young.
