Ruth Elizabeth Janneck was born to Harold and Amie Janneck on April 24, 1929 in Barnesville, where she attended school, and was gifted in her musical abilities. She sang with her family, and performed at funerals, weddings and school productions. She belonged to St. James United Church of Christ of Barnesville and was active in teaching Sunday and Bible school while her children were young.

Ruth was also active in the Farmer's Union and 4-H, and was an active DFL'er in Minnesota 7th District politics. She married Gordon Iverson in 1950 and had family remaining in the Barnesville and Fargo-Moorhead areas. She later married Jerry Mulready and most recently was married to John Carlson.

Ruth lived in the Twin Cities for many years. She used her liberal political philosophy and worked as a legislative lobbyist and campaigned for women's rights and causes for the poor, homeless, minorities and the lack of accessible health care. Although she was disappointed that we did not achieve a "Hillary presidency", she was astonished and happy that the United States did elect its first African-American president.

Ruth was a wonderful cook and had an incredible sense of humor, fun and freedom.

Surviving Ruth are her five children, Connie Iverson and Carol Iverson, both of Minneapolis, Janet Iverson of Fargo, Jean (Jerry) Best of Tovey, Ill., and Tom (Beth) Iverson of Moorhead; a brother, Harold Janneck II; Four grandchildren; one great grandson; two nieces and two nephews.

Preceding Ruth is preceded in death were her mother and father; two infant siblings; and her husbands, Gordon, Jerry and John.
