Ruthmarie Eid, 91, of Lake Park, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, in Sunnyside Care Center, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Ruthmarie Lenora was born to August and Amalia (Romare) Holmgren on November 9, 1919 in Lake Park. She married Manfred Johnson on October 6, 1946 in Lake Park. Manfred died November 15, 1966.
Ruthmarie married Stanley Eid on February 9, 1973. She was employed with the United States Postal Service for 30 years, serving as the Lake Park postmistress for the last five years. She had a special place in her heart for all the children and grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruthmarie was well known for her crafts, especially her crochet work.
Surviving Ruthmarie are her husband, Stanley Eid of Lake Park; daughters, Claris (special friend, Floyd) Keeping of Fergus Falls, Janis (Tom) Weets of Frazee, Linda (Mike) Berg of Pelican Rapids and Betty (Gene) Karger of Elbow Lake; brother, Clarence Holmgren of Hawley; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lenora Holmgren of Lake Park, Sylvia Jordahl of Washington, Melba Johnson of Browerville, Minn., and Deloris Johnson of Brooten, Minn.; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Audrey Jensen of Moorhead.
Preceding Ruthmarie in death were her parents, August and Amalia Holmgren; four brothers, Oscar, Carl, Allan and John Holmgren; two sisters, Clara Holmgren and Dollie Garceau; and infant granddaughter, Susan Renee Keeping.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Wright Funeral Home in Lake Park.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, with interment in the church cemetery. An online guestbook is at www.wrightfuneral.com.
