Hawley native Ryan D. Leister, 32, of Fargo, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at St. Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes.
Ryan Daniel Leister was born to Daniel and Diane (Hagen) Leister on Oct. 12, 1976 in Detroit Lakes. He grew up and attended school in Hawley, graduating from high school there in 1995.
Following high school, Ryan attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, graduating in 2001, before getting his master's degree from South Dakota State University in Brookings in 2003.
Ryan worked for the City of Sioux Falls for a time, before moving to Fargo and working for the Navteq Corporation. Ryan also worked for Community Growth Institute in Baxter, Minn., but most recently was employed by Agassiz Land Management.
Ryan enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports -- especially golf and bowling -- watching the Twins and Vikings, and spending time outdoors. He was a proud uncle to Tanner, Layton, Logan and Makenna, whose greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Ryan will be dearly missed by his parents, Daniel and Diane Leister of Hawley; two brothers, Nate (Tori) Leister of Grand Forks, N.D., and Chad (Liz) Leister of Shakopee, Minn.; three nephews; one niece; grandmothers, Betty Hagen and Ruth Leister, both of Bemidji; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Preceding Ryan in death were his grandfathers, Clarence Hagen and Cecil Leister; aunt, Janice Moberg; and uncle, David Leister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, followed with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Hawley High School Gymnasium in Hawley.
