Scout earns top honor
Christopher Groom of rural Lake Park will be receiving his Eagle Scout award, May 4, at 3 p.m. He is a member of the Northern Lights Council Boy Scout Troop 633 of Moorhead.
The ceremony will take place at Cormorant Lutheran Church rural Lake Park. Chris is the son of David and Robin Groom.
To attain the highest award in scouting, Groom has earned 33 merit badges, served as a leader in his troop and completed a major community service project. Groom's Eagle Scout project was to benefit Cormorant Lutheran Church in rural Lake Park.
For his Eagle Scout service project Groom planned, organized and led the construction of a handicap accessible concrete walkway and speaker pads for the outdoor service area at Cormorant Lutheran Church. The Cormorant Lutheran Church's men's group provided monies and materials for the project. The men's group also provided labor for the project in conjunction with Troop 633.
Groom is currently a senior at Lake Park/Audubon high school and plans to attend Concordia College in the fall.
