The Scouts also had a tree at the "Festival of Trees" in the Frazee Event Center this year collecting donations. Not only did they go around collecting items they each had to sit down and sew items for this very special award they were working to attain.

Leaders and scouts say they can't thank the schools and the kids for helping them with this project and also the community for supporting it and for supporting the Girl Scouts.

The girls been very busy working on this award it is the highest recognition you can earn as a Junior Girl Scout.

All the items -- 869 total -- were donated to the Becker County Human Service Department in Detroit lakes, this way everything will be kept local.

The goal was to collect 500 items and to have collected an enormous amount couldn't make parents any happier.

"Words can't express how proud I am of these four girls, and for all their hard work on this project," parent Bobbi Lormis said. "They all learned helping other people makes you feel good especially around this time of the year.

Christmas is not all about what you get it is so much more about giving to others and they learned that for sure because there are kids out there their own age who will get a warm hat, mitten, scarves and even maybe a toy from the Frazee Girl Scout Troop 30483 that may not get anything else this year for Christmas.
