Several injured -- one critically -- in four crashes on an icy Highway 10 this morning
Icy road conditions this morning kept state troopers busy from Moorhead to Wadena.
At 9:48 a.m. a Glyndon man suffered minor injuries when he rolled his 1988 Chevy pickup truck on Highway 10 about a mile east of Highway 9.
John T. Bekkerus, 46, was eastbound on Highway 10, lost control on icy pavement, and rolled the truck, according to the State Patrol.
At 10:55 a.m. a Dilworth teen suffered minor injuries in a collision with a semi on an icy Highway 10 east of the Highway 336 cut-across to I-94.
Joshua C. Breid, 16, of Dilworth was eastbound in the right-hand lane of Highway 10 in a 2003 Chevy Cavalier.
He rear-ended a 1993 Kenworth truck tractor driven by Howard L. Fees, 53, of Moorhead, who suffered no apparent injuries, according to the Sate Patrol.
At 9:16 a.m. a Motley man suffered serious injuries when his 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck ran off an icy Highway 10 on the west side of Motley, went through two fences and hit a tree.
Ted C. Lundberg, 72, was listed in critical condition by the State Patrol.
The condition of a passenger -- Michael A. Weinhandl of Brainerd -- was not documented.
Icy road conditions were also blamed for a three-vehicle collision at 10:45 a.m. on Highway 10 at Otter Tail County Road 75 near Wadena.
Christina J. Spiering, 27, of New York Mills was treated and released for injuries suffered in that crash.
The accident occurred when a 2001 Chevy Impala, driven by Philip M. Vaughn, 23, of New York Mills was eastbound on Highway 10 and was not able to slow in time to avoid a vehicle in front of him stopped to make a left turn.
He swerved into the westbound lane, striking a westbound 1997 Ford Expedition driven by Spiering.
Two passengers in the Expedition, Hailey J. Spiering, 5, of New York Mills and Chloe M. Spiering, 1, of New York Mills suffered no apparent injuries in the crash.
Vaughn's vehicle then bounced into a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee -- the eastbound vehicle that was stopped waiting to make a left turn.
The driver of the Jeep was Denton G. Jacobs, 83, of St. Cloud. He suffered no apparent injuries.
Vaughn's condition was not documented by the State Patrol.
