Sex offender wanted by Moorhead police turns himself in
MOORHEAD - Police say a high-risk registered sex offender sought by Moorhead police turned himself in this morning.
Wesley Duane Johnson, 45, turned himself in after hearing his name in the media and learning that he was being sought by the Moorhead Police Department, according to a news release from Lt. Tory Jacobson.
Johnson had traveled to Omaha, Neb., and has now returned to Moorhead, the release stated.
After police ensure that he complies with Minnesota's sex offender registration laws, Johnson is moving to Milwaukee and registering there, the release stated, adding authorities in Milwaukee will be advised before the move.
Police last week asked for the public's help in locating Johnson, a Level 3 sex offender who wasn't living at his registered address in the 700 block of Eighth Street South in Moorhead. Authorities said he also hadn't shown up for work.
According to information released by police, Johnson has a history of indecent exposure and masturbation in public places and in the presence of females ranging in age from 5 to adult.
