Shelter Fest postponed
The Humane Society of the Lakes fundraiser, Shelter Fest, that was originally scheduled to take place this past Saturday has been postponed one week.
The event is now set to take place Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Hotel Shoreham, starting at 6 p.m.
The silent auction and raffle will go on as originally scheduled; however, Dan Holt will provide the musical entertainment.
Tim Eggebraaten, who was originally scheduled to perform, has a prior engagement this weekend and will be unable to attend.
Tickets for the raffle will continue to be sold up until the start of the benefit on Saturday, for $2 apiece, according to event chair Vicky Williams.
They are available from Humane Society board members, at the HSL animal shelter and at the Hotel Shoreham. There is no limit to the number of tickets that may be purchased, and “you do not need to be present to win,” said Williams.
This year’s raffle prizes include a Weber Genesis gas grill, an Apple iPad Air and a piece of handcrafted jewelry by local jewelry artist Cheryl Lynn.
Silent auction items — roughly 100 in all — will include artwork from area artists, delicious food and wine baskets, gift certificates, tools, handmade quilts and more.
All of the items have been donated by local businesses, individuals and organizations. The silent auction will officially open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, which is also when Holt will begin his first set on stage.
Most of the activities for Shelter Fest are held outdoors, Williams noted (hence the reason why this past weekend’s event was postponed).
