Sheriff identifies Glyndon man who died after vehicle plunged into ditch; driver returning home from work when he crashed
UPDATED 12:43 p.m.
GLYNDON, Minn. - A 40-year-old Glyndon man, Thomas William Grover, is dead after the van he was driving went off the end of a T-intersection and crashed into a deep drainage ditch northeast of Moorhead, Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist said Tuesday.
Bergquist said Grover was driving a Nardini Fire Equipment van and was on his way home from work when the crash occurred.
A trucker passing by saw the van in the ditch south of County Road 26 at 70th Street North and reported it to law enforcement about 5:30 a.m.
Bergquist said Grover, a father of two, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not ejected from the vehicle, Bergquist said.
It's unknown how long the van had been in the ditch, which is about 15 feet deep, Bergquist said.
