Shooting Star Casino goes 'Forever Plaid'
On Friday, Feb. 15, the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center in Mahnomen will host a special dinner theater performance of the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre production "Forever Plaid," one of the most popular and successful musicals in recent stage history.
The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and the show will begin at 7:45 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased for $40 in-person at the Shooting Star ticket office, by calling 1.800.313.SHOW (7469), or online at www.StarCasino.com.
Dinner, which consists of burgundy glazed champion choice-cut steak, lemon butter shrimp, wild rice pilaf, asparagus, and for dessert, a signature brownie delight, is included in the ticket price.
The deliciously goofy "Forever Plaid" centers on four young, eager male singers killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was.
Singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations, and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with overzealous precision, the "Plaids" are a guaranteed smash, with a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keep audiences rolling in the aisles when they're not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950s.
The original show debuted in May of 1990 at Steve McGraw's Theatre in New York City, with direction, choreography, and script credited to Stuart Ross.
The Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre's upcoming revue will be performed by actors Taylor Schatz, Cameron Sorrells, Samuel Krauth, and Daniel Damico.
