Shot Mahnomen deputy moves into surgical unit
FARGO - A Mahnomen County (Minn.) Sheriff's deputy who suffered gunshot wounds Wednesday has been moved out of the critical care unit of Fargo's MeritCare Hospital and into a surgical unit.
Chris Dewey remains in guarded condition, according to an update made today on the hospital's Web site.
"Chris has made significant improvements in the last 48 hours and is now well enough to move from the critical care unit," said Dr. Frank Sepe, a Merit-Care critical care specialist.
Dr. Robert Sticca, a surgeon at MeritCare, said Dewey is doing well but faces additional surgery.
"There's still a long road ahead for he and his family because of the injury to his brain," said Sticca.
