Smith documentary to be featured at Square Lake Film Festival in Stillwater
Pioneer Public TV’s Senior Producer Dana Johnson has been notified that her award winning documentary, “My Way Back Home: Caroline Smith,” has been selected for viewing at the Square Lake Film Festival.
The festival will be held on Saturday Aug. 9 from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. near the Square Lake County Park north of Stillwater, Minn.
Johnson’s documentary profiles Smith, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter with roots in the Detroit Lakes community.
The Square Lake Film Festival was created 12 years ago as a way to bring exposure to the independent and largely unrecognized film work being done in and around the Twin Cities.
Since then, the Festival expanded to include a lineup of local musicians. Last year, Johnson’s documentary on musician Holly Hansen was selected for the Festival.
“We consider it a great honor to have Pioneer’s locally produced programs to be recognized in this way,” stated Pioneer’s president and general manager, Les Heen.
“We seek to create artful television that reflects the creative spirit of our broadcast region,” Heen added.
