Speaker to open Cold War exhibit at ITOW

DETROIT LAKES - On May 1, 1960, Captain Francis Gary Powers was shot down over the Soviet Union while piloting his U2 spy plane sparking one of the most famous international incidents of the Cold War.

On Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m., Francis Gary Powers, Jr., son of the famous U-2 pilot, will be on hand to open a new exhibit at the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham.

The exhibit, "Top Secret," includes photographs and artifacts from the Cold War Museum about the U-2 Incident. Powers will introduce the exhibit and talk about the amazing experiences of this renowned Cold War hero. This event is free and open to the public.
