Laker football mini camps scheduled
The Detroit Lakes Laker football mini-camps will be held July 28-31, at the DLHS practice fields.
Players in grades nine and 10 will practice from 8-11 a.m. and will need to be dressed and ready to go by 7:45 a.m. in the DLHS weight room.
Grades 11-12 will practice from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will need to be ready to go by 11 a.m. in the weight room.
Equipment handout will be July 25 at 10 a.m. in the weight room, and July 27 at 5 p.m. for grades 11-12, and at 6 p.m. for grades 9-10. Players should go to the back door of the weight room for the July 27 pickup.
The Laker Football Clinic for grades 7-8 will be Aug. 4-5 at the DL Middle School gym.
Seventh graders will practice from 9-10:20 a.m. and eighth graders from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Players should report approximately 15 minutes before practice.

Hanson Football Camp is free
The Phil Hanson Sportsmanship and Fitness Kids Kamp 2008 will take place Wednesday, July 30, at Mollberg Field in Detroit Lakes.
The first session runs from 4-6 p.m., and is for ages 5-9.
The second session runs from 6-8 p.m., and is for ages 10-13.
There will be 12 interactive drill sessions run by Hanson and other area volunteers.
The camp is free, and no advance registration is required. All participants will receive an autographed football card, and the first 150 in each session will get a free t-shirt.
Subway products and water will be provided after the drills. In case of rain, the camp will be held at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center.

Pro-Gal hosted at DCC
The Detroit Lakes Pro-Gal was hosted at the Detroit Country Club last week.
The winning team was made up of Kris and Kim Kroestch, Katie and Joni Bertel and Stacey Briggs.
Second place belonged to Jeff Olson, Linda Smith, April Olson, Anna Ahles and Casey Kachelmeyer.
The amateur gross division was won by Amanda Miller with a score of one-under par 70, while Jenna Buckwalter was second with a 74.
Tying for third were Mary Lobin and Jenni Stitzner with a 75.
The net division was taken by Stacey Griggs with a five-under par 66, followed by April Olson with a 67 and Julie Motschenbacher with a 69.
In the professional division, John Dahl and Jay Haug tied for top honors with an even par 71.
A host of players tied for third with a one-over 72, including Gordy Skaar, Russ Nelson, Kris Kroestch, Greg McCullough and John Young.
DL Jaycees go 1-2
The Detroit Lakes Jaycees baseball team went 1-2 last week, losing to Hawley 10-9 and Breckenridge 12-7, while defeating Lake Park-Audubon 20-2.
The one-run loss to Hawley was DL's sixth defeat of its kind. Jordan Manning had four hits and Brian Labat added two in the loss.
The DL squad, which is made up of 13-15 year olds, will be in Audubon this week to continue their summer schedule.
Floyd Shores Lake Association results
The Floyd Shores Lake Association hosted its annual golf scramble and picnic Saturday, July 19, at the Ironman Golf Course.
Winning the Mixed Division was the foursome of Katie, Ben, Kelli and Jim Osowski with a score of 50, while the Smith family of Kate, Karter, Dory and Blair took second with a 53.
Taking the Adult Division was Dennis and Josh Bowman, along with Dave Brenk and Gordy Grabow with a 50.
Second place belonged to John, Joanie, Paul and Stella Bridgeford with a 55. Third place went to Dave and Mary Pease and Keith and Joyce Junge with a 57.
The Detroit Lakes Men's Golf Association League playoff will be played Wednesday, July 30, at the DCC.
Teams in the playoff include American Family Insurance, Bremer Bank No. 2, Speak Easy, American National Bank, Team Lab, Pro Systems, Olander Bus Service and Seaberg Power Sport.
Lakeview Ladies League results
Winning teams for the Lakeview Women on July 22 were Karen Hagen, Ethel Nelson, Marlene Hanson and Sharon O'Brien with a score of 123 and Bernie Adams, Roberta Nybeck, Pat Cascaes, Ginny Imholte and Nancy Haggaart with 124.
Longest putt was by Karen Hagen, Longest drive by Mary Sauer and Donna Ronken had a chip-in.
