Stabbing in rural Cass County leads to arrest

PINE RIVER - A 49-year-old man was arrested following a stabbing Sunday in rural Pine River, the Cass County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Monday.

Sheriff's deputies received a call at 6:13 p.m. about a disturbance at a home in Powers Township. 

The news release said deputies arrived and found a 55-year-old man who had been stabbed in the stomach. The man, from Backus, has not been identified, but he was taken to a St. Cloud hospital.

The release also said Loren Rice, 49, from the Pine River area had been arrested in connection with the investigation. Formal charges have not been filed yet.
