State Patrol investigating fatal Bemidji crash
The investigation into Monday's fatal crash near Bemidji continued today as investigators reconstructed the scene and conducted interviews with those involved.
Minnesota State Patrol troopers met with a Beltrami County sergeant today as they mapped out the scene and reconstructed the crash site, Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp said today.
Interviews were conducted locally and in Fargo, N.D., with those who survived and witnessed the crash, he said. The collection will continue.
Dawn Marie Boyd, 47, died Monday afternoon when the minivan she was riding in crossed into the opposing lane of traffic on New Bass Road Northeast and collided head-on with an oncoming minivan, according to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.
Hodapp said the crash was "very bad," noting that when two vehicles each going 30 mph collide, the resulting crash is the same as going 60 mph into a brick wall
Four of the five people in the two vans survived.
