Steven M. Caspers, 62, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in his home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Steven Michael Caspers was born to Amor and Jean (Polda) Caspers on March 24, 1947 in Detroit Lakes, and grew up in Ogema. He graduated from Waubun High School in 1965. Steve attended Moorhead State University in Moorheadm and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He started working for the Becker County Highway Department in 1972, and worked there until the time of his death.
Steve enjoyed golfing with friends, deer hunting and dark-house spearing. He also enjoyed salmon fishing in Idaho. He enjoyed sports as well -- especially watching his boys play football and hockey.
Surviving Steve are his wife, Sue Caspers of Detroit Lakes; two sons, Andy Caspers of Fargo and Mike Caspers, currently in graduate school in Lawrence, Kansas; his mother, Jean Caspers of Detroit Lakes; two brothers, Ronald Caspers of Richwood and Donovan "Doc" Caspers of Mountain Home, Idaho; one sister, Eloise (Michael) Luhm of Rio, Wis.; as well as three nieces, two nephews and several cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Sunday) at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. It will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements for the family.
