Street maintenance machine severely injures man
A 52-year-old man was severely injured when his wife accidentally ran him over with street maintenance equipment.
Gregory Alan Wagner, of Parkston, S.D., was transported to a Minneapolis hospital by St. Mary's LifeFlight Sunday following the accident that happened shortly before noon on County Highway 11 in Audubon.
His wife, 55-year-old Gayle Wagner, said while the two of them were cleaning the road with a street sweeper, her husband was greasing the bottom of it when he asked her to move the machine.
She then ran him over then backed up and struck him again, according to the Becker County Sheriff's Office.
"I just barely touched that thing and it moved," she said.
Gregory Wagner suffered a broken pelvis and fractured back, she added.
He's awaiting surgery at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Gayle Wagner said his doctors told her he's expected to fully recover within three months.
The Audubon Fire Department, as well as the Becker County Sheriff's Office, assisted at the scene.
