Students compete at Region 6 BPA
The Region 6 BPA (Business Professionals of America) competition was held at MState in Detroit Lakes on Jan. 25. All six Detroit Lakes BPA students qualified for the State BPA Competition. The state competition was held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis, March 8-10. The students advanced in the seven contests indicated:
Katie Anderson --Extemporaneous Speaking, Beau Blanchard -- PC Servicing and Troubleshooting, Brittney Eischens -- Advanced Word Processing, Lacey Illg -- Extemporaneous Speaking, Goeun Park -- Advanced Word Processing and Banking and Finance and Claire Schiller -- Advanced Interview Skills.
Schiller placed first in her contest and will be advancing to nationals. Beau Blanchard placed third and will also compete at nationals. The national competition will be held in Chicago, Ill., April 25-29.
Anderson was a state finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking and placed second in Administrative Support, which is an open contest and does not qualify for Nationals.
Schiller is currently a state officer and Blanchard will be the region president for the 2012-2013 school year. Congratulations and best of luck at nationals.
