Subway employee accused of stealing $5,000
DETROIT LAKES - Rebecca Kaye Ramos, 32, no address available, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony theft of property over $2,500.
She was a Subway employee from mid-September 2006 to mid-May 2007 and during that time numerous bank deposits were either missing or significantly short, according to court records.
Subway's bookkeeper discovered it and reported it to the restaurant's owner. The only people who had access to the deposits and the safe were the owner and Ramos. Her job responsibilities included making bank deposits.
When confronted on two of the missing deposits, Ramos allegedly told the owner she had lost them but would pay the money back. One other time the owner allegedly found a missing deposit bag in her vehicle. The deposits and shortages amounted to more than $5,000, according to court records.
When confronted again, Ramos left for the day and never went back to work. A police investigator who tried to contact her found that she had left the state.
A warrant was issued for her arrest Tuesday by District Judge Peter Irvine.
