Successful blood drive held in Detroit Lakes
Blood drive coordinator, Mary Lee and the Eagles Club have sponsored a very successful blood drive.
The drive, held in Detroit Lakes on Feb. 9, saw 41 people volunteer to donate blood and 35 were able to give. Three people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 38 products were collected. Six of the donors gave blood for the first time.
The availability of blood is dependent on the success of blood drives held in many communities. The citizens of the Detroit Lakes area can be assured that their community is a good example of a well-run blood program.
Mary Lee coordinated the drive, and the Eagles Club sponsored and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity, providing refreshments and registering donors.
Others who assisted were Betty Hochhalter, Bob Lee and Cylinda Scheiben.
The staff of United Blood Services, on behalf of the patients who receive blood, wish to thank all who volunteered to donate blood and who helped organize the drive.
