The Sucker Creek Outlaws cowboy action shooting club has announced their 2014 schedule.
Monthly competitive matches at the Becker County Sportsmen’s Club will take place on April 12, May 10, May 17 (new member match), June 28, July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13. Sept. 20 (cowboy vs. cop match), and Oct. 10. All monthly matches will start with sign-up at noon, a 12:45 safety meeting and shooting starts at 1 p.m. Several practices will also he held starting at 6 p.m. until sunset on April 23, May 21, June 11, July 23, Aug. 20 and Sept. 24.
Cowboy action shooting involves firing a lever-action, pistol caliber rifle, two center-fire single-action revolvers, and either a double-barrel or a Winchester Model 1897 shotgun at specific targets in a specific order, all while being timed and watched for accuracy.
And while dressing like you stepped out of 1870 isn’t necessarily required, some form of western garb is. No shorts and sandals are allowed.
