'Summer of History' kicks off with a cruise
The Becker County Historical Society (BCHS) is planning a summer filled with history activities.
In addition to regular Museum hours and free tours, BCHS has a Summer of History on the docket. From boat cruises to speaker presentations, kids activities to walking tours there is sure to be something for everyone. All of the activities can be found on the BCHS website, BeckerCountyHistory.org.
To kick off the summer, the public is invited to join the Becker County Historical Society for a Sunday History Cruise at Fair Hills Resort on beautiful Pelican Lake.
The cruise will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 23. Enjoy an afternoon cruise aboard the 60-foot "Big Pelican" excursion boat and learn a little Becker County boating history along the way. Snacks and a cash bar will be available.
Tickets are $15 per person, and must be purchased in advance at the Becker County Museum, during regular museum hours. Proceeds benefit BCHS's local history programming.
The Becker County History Museum, Research Library and Gift Shop are located on the corner of Summit Avenue and Front Street, next to the Historic Holmes Theatre. Year-round museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Please call 218-847-2938 or visit the website at BeckerCountyHistory.org for more information.
