Suspect charged in Ball Club stabbing
A Deer River boy has been charged in Itasca County Juvenile Court for his role in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Terrell Lee Wilson of Ball Club.
Wilson died Sunday after he was stabbed in the eye at the intersection of Itasca County Road 39 and Ball Club Lake Drive. He was taken to Deer River Medical Center and then to St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn., where he died.
Two suspects, ages 16 and 17, were arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing.
One was charged Tuesday in Itasca County with two counts of second-degree murder and three counts of third-degree assault. All charges are felonies.
A motion also was made to certify the defendant as an adult.
Itasca County Juvenile Court ordered that the defendant be held in secure detention at Arrowhead Juvenile Center in Duluth.
A probably cause hearing was set for Jan. 27 and a certification hearing was set for Feb. 18.
According to the criminal complaint, the defendants is accused of stabbing Wilson to death and assaulting three other males with a knife during an early Sunday morning fight in Ball Club.
