Suzi B. Nelson, 55, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at St. ?Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes.

Suzi was born to John and Mary (Jager) Krier on Jan. 23, 1953 in Detroit Lakes. She was raised in Callaway, and was educated in both Callaway and Detroit Lakes. Suzi married Greg D. Nelson on Sept. 7, 1974 in Callaway. They made their home in Oxbow, N.D., until 2006, when they moved to Detroit Lakes.

Suzi was a homemaker, and prided herself in raising her children. For many years, Suzi modeled professionally in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Suzi was also a bookkeeper for the family's food distributing business from 1976 to 2001.

Suzi was an active member at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Wild Rice, N.D. She enjoyed golf, tennis, crosswords, music and being at the lakes. Above all, Suzi enjoyed loving and caring for her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother, caring friend, and an inspiration to everyone she met.

Surviving Suzi are her husband, Greg Nelson of Detroit Lakes; sons, Jamie Nelson of Detroit Lakes and Casey Nelson of St. Louis Park, Minn.; her father, John Krier of Alaska; sisters, Mary Kihl, Sophia Gill and Jenny Krier, all of Arizona, Bette (Jerry) Hultstrand of Illinois and Kathy (Jeff) SeGraves of Nevada; brothers, John Krier, Tom (Judy) Krier, Rob Krier, Dan Krier and Fred (Cheryl) Krier, all of Alaska, and Nick Krier of Minnesota; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Suzi in death were her mother, Mary, and her sister, Josie.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes; there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for noon Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes.

Memorials may be sent to St. Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes or the Roger Maris Cancer Clinic in Fargo.
