Tank leaks 170 gallons of oil into storm sewer system in south Fargo
FARGO - About 170 gallons of waste oil spilled from a tank and into the storm sewer system Wednesday at Titan Machinery in south Fargo, the Fargo Fire Department said.
Firefighters were called to investigate the spill at 11 a.m. and found that about 170 gallons had spilled from a 200-gallon tank at 2503 5th Ave. S.
The oil flowed into the gutter along 27th Street South and, with the rain overnight, flowed into the storm sewer, according to a news release from Assistant Fire Chief Larry Schuh.
A hazardous materials unit responded, along with street department crews who spread sand to absorb the oil in the gutter and on the street.
An environmental cleanup company from Morris, Minn., was contacted by Titan Machinery to clean up the spill.
