Tappe leads Lady Hornets to victory over Raiders
The Frazee Lady Hornets played their first road game of the season on Friday night at Lake Park-Audubon, and came up with a 64-43 win.
The Lady Hornets (2-0) had a strong effort and rolled to a 64-43 victory.
"This was a fun game for the girls," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "It was fun to play in their (LP-A's) new facility, which is really nice, and we had a good team effort."
Frazee raced out of the gates quickly with their full court pressure defense, which led to an early 15-2 lead.
The Raiders heated up after that, hitting nine of their next 11 shots as they cut the lead to 30-24 at halftime.
But the Lady Hornets started the second half with another spurt, this time in the form of a 10-2 run, and LP-A was never able to get closer than 12 points the rest of the game.
Alexis Tappe led Frazee with a strong all-around game, scoring 27 points to go with nine steals, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Taylor Tappe had nine points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals, Katie McCorquodale had eight points, four rebounds and two steals, and Kennady Barlund chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.
"We will need this type of team effort this season if we are to going to be successful," Conzemius added. "We can be a tough team to deal with when we have many different girls
Frazee is in action this week on Thursday night when the Lady Hornets host Ulen-Hitterdal (1-2), and Friday they open up HOL conference play at Pelican Rapids (2-0).
