Teen faces auto theft, fleeing charges
A 17-year-old Audubon boy was arrested and faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing a pickup truck, boat and trailer early Thursday morning and leading Detroit Lakes police on a short chase that ended with him smashing into a tree on West Avenue.
The pickup and boat were reported stolen at 12:22 a.m. Thursday from a residence on the 600 block of Sixth Street in Audubon.
At about 11 p.m. Thursday, Detroit Lakes police saw the pickup and boat near the mall parking lot and pursued for a few blocks until the truck hit a tree on West Avenue.
The driver was alone in the truck and was not seriously injured, although he was reportedly intoxicated.
Brendin Quinn Deegan faces felony charges of motor vehicle theft, receiving stolen property and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
