Ten Commandments monument on U.S. Highway 2 defaced by vandals
The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office received a report from a passing motorist at 7:30 a.m. today, July 23, of damage to property in the form of spray painted graffiti.
The Ten Commandment tablets, located on the south side of U.S. Highway 2, just west of the junction of Highway 2 and state Highway 89 (approximately 5 miles west of Bemidji), were defaced with black spray paint by unknown suspects. Both tablets received considerable damage from this act of vandalism. The tablets were constructed by a private party at his own expense.
