Ten new bikes to be given out at Bike Rodeo April 27 in DL
Families are invited to attend a free bike rodeo that will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 9:30–11:30 a.m. in the Kent Freeman Arena, Detroit Lakes.
Ten new bikes have been provided by local sponsors along with many new bike helmets. As participants complete the bike rodeo course, they will be eligible to enter a drawing to win a new bike. No pre-registration is required but participants need to bring their bike and helmet.
Children grades K-8 and their parents will have fun learning bike safety skills at a variety of engaging learning stations. The bike rodeo learning stations will consist of Safety Checklist, Driveway Rideout, Crazy Crossroads, Cones, Brake Dancing, Staying Between the Lines and a Slow Race.
Co-sponsors of this event include Midwest Bank, the Detroit Lakes Police and Public Works Department, Essentia Health, the University of Minnesota Extension 4-H Youth Development Program, PartnerSHIP 4 Health, Detroit Lakes Kiwanis, Bremer Bank, First Security Bank, Bell State Bank, Anytime Fitness, the National Honor Society, Lakes Area Bike Club and KDLM.
