Thanks to DL for referendum support

A huge thank you goes out to our community for the overwhelming support of the school district operating referendum. Your support of this levy shows that you care about the future of our youth and how important it is for them to have a high quality and broad based education.

We want to thank the school board and school administration for being good stewards of our money. It has been necessary in the past to trim some of our costs, amounting to about $2.2 million over the past 4 years. The cuts would have been much more serious if this levy had not passed. Because the board and administration have been prudent with our money, it allows us to place our trust in them to continue to make good decisions. There may still be some minor cuts necessary as state funding continues to fall short of our basic needs, but the funds from this operating levy will help minimize the cuts.

We want to thank the faculty and support staff of our school district. We entrust our children to you every day for a quality education, but you are responsible for so much more. You deal with the physical and emotional issues of our children as they go through so many changes during their school age years. You are great teachers, but you are also counselors, mentors, disciplinarians, role models, coaches, cheerleaders, confidantes, and advocates of our children. Keep up the great work!!

Finally, to the students: Continue to be pillars of character and understand how much the people of this community care for you. We hope you will continue to show respect and appreciation for what the teachers and this community do for you. It is your responsibility to make the most of your education and take advantage of the opportunity this school district provides. Be the best person that you can be and remember to give back whenever you can. When voters go to the poll, they think about what kind of students and young adults we are raising in our community. You are great kids and you live in a great community.
