On behalf of the Damien Society, I wish to thank the community of Detroit Lakes and surrounding communities for our successful Damien Home Tour. This year's "Expect the Unexpected" theme amused us with a little of everything, from music and cooking demos to some stellar "performances" by our more talented Damien members. The Home Tour is the Damien Society's main fundraising project, the proceeds of which allows us to contribute to over 20 local charities.
Cheers to the five wonderful families whose homes were featured this year: DelRae and Jack Chivers, Mary and Marty Solmon, Susan and Cliff Lake, Michael Mercil, and the Bernabucci family. This annual event could not take place without willing people like these who open their homes in support of local charities. We truly appreciate their hard work.
We also extend a hearty thanks to the Detroit Lakes Newspapers, staff and our own Mary Brenk. Their creative layout in the Fall Home magazine featured beautiful photos and bios of the homes, giving credence to and generating interest in our tour.
Our gratitude also to KDLM and TV 3 for their advertising, Central Market and St. Mary's for their donations and Jack Chivers Reality for signs.
We hope to see you all again Oct. 2, 2010. Who knows what new and exciting thing we'll come up with for next year?
