Thanks for successful 'Mitten Tree Project'
The Damien Society wishes to thank the entire community for another successful "Mitten Tree Project" this year. The generous donations of mittens, hats, and scarves from throughout our region demonstrate the true spirit of Christmas, and we appreciate all of you who have made this a part of your holiday traditions.
The project grew considerably this year, as 700 items from the trees were distributed to children and adults in need at schools throughout our area, the Boys and Girls Club, Anishinaabe Center, Lakes Crisis Center, Emmanuel Nursing Home and the Community Education Program.
We wish to thank especially the Detroit Lakes Newspapers, KDLM and KRCQ Radio, Norby's Department Store and Channels 3 and 14 for the promotion of this project. The following businesses also hosted trees for the donations to be made: Wells Fargo Bank, First Security Bank, Bremer Bank, Midwest Bank, American National Bank, State Bank & Trust, Central Market, St. Mary's Living Community, Lakeshirts, the Detroit Lakes Community Center, the Speak Easy, Jack Chivers Realty and the Detroit Lakes Morning Rotary Club.
With this generosity, we will continue to make ours a "warm" community. Thank you.
