Theresa M. Bergh, 90, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Theresa Marie Bergh was born to Knute and Matilda (Opdahl) Dovre on January 18, 1921 in rural Detroit Lakes. She grew up on the family farm on Little Floyd Lake and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. She then attended Moorhead State Teachers College for two years, and received her teaching certificate.
On August 24, 1944 Theresa was united in marriage to Melvin Bergh in Detroit Lakes. She later attended the University of Minnesota, where she received her teaching degree. Over the years, Theresa taught elementary school in Winger, Minn., and later in Long Prairie, Minn., for 20 years. After retiring, she and Melvin moved to Detroit Lakes in 1980.
Theresa enjoyed traveling in their motor home, polkas, dancing, playing cards, bowling, visiting the family farm and spending time with her granddaughter.
Surviving Theresa are one son, John (Geri) Bergh of Jacksonville, Fla.; one granddaughter, Katherine Crowley of Duluth, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Melvin (2010); one daughter, Judy Bergh (2011); her parents; and three brothers, Erling, Conrad and Clifford Dovre.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
