Thief knocks out woman, steals her purse in Fargo
A thief struck a woman in the face, knocking her unconscious, and stole her purse Friday night in north Fargo, police said.
The incident happened about 10 p.m. in the 500 block of Fourth Street North.
According to Fargo Police Sgt. Mark Lykken:
The victim told police she was standing outside her residence when a man came up to her and asked her what time it was. She told him she didn't know.
The 34-year-old woman was on the phone and began to walk away. The man followed her and struck her in the face. It's unknown if he had a weapon.
When the woman regained consciousness, she saw the man running away and realized he had her purse.
The incident was reported at 10:25 p.m. from the emergency room at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. The woman suffered a cut to her face and bruised and swollen cheekbones, Lykken said.
The woman described the man as a black male with gray stubble on his face wearing a red sweatshirt and black running pants, Lykken said.
