Thielen earns NSIC's Offensive Player of Week
Minnesota State senior wideout Adam Thielen and junior kicker Sam Brockshus were named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week for their efforts in MSU's win at Winona State last weekend.
This honor marks the first time in Thielen's career that he has earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week honor and the second time for Brockshus, who earned the award on August 30, 2009 following MSU's win at Truman State.
Thielen - a native of Detroit Lakes - finished the Maverick win against Winona State with 10 catches for 128 yards and three touchdowns.
Thielen, who caught touchdown passes of three, 13 and 23 yards, continued to climb up MSU's all-time lists with the performance as his 10 catches moved him into third all-time in receptions with 170, his 128 yards moved him into third all-time in career receiving yards (2,331) and his three touchdown grabs puts him in fourth-place all-time with 17.
Thielen finished the win with 18 points scored last weekend, which was a better output than three teams in the league.
The seventh-ranked Mavericks (8-0, 8-0 NSIC) travel to Wayne State this weekend. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
