Detroit Lakes native Thomas E. Brown, 61, of Columbia Falls, Mont., died Thursday, May 5, 2011 due to injuries from a motorcycle accident in York, Pa.
Thomas Brown was born to Julius and Olga (Olson) Brown on April 8, 1950 in Detroit Lakes. He grew up in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1968.
He worked for Ross Auto Body and was a self-taught construction worker, building and restoring old homes during his lifetime.
Thomas married Anne O'Neil in December 1979, and they had one son, Cale Brown, in 1981. Cale was killed in an automobile/pedestrian accident in 2008.
Thomas and Anne moved to York, Pa., in 2000, continuing to purchase and restore old homes.
Surviving Thomas are his father, Julius (Joyce) Brown of Dilworth; brothers Julius Brown Jr. of Omaha, Neb., and Curtis (Denise) Brown of Detroit Lakes; and sisters Nancy (Dave) Sherman of High Pointe, N.C., and Kathy (Manny) Berry of Detroit Lakes.
Preceding Thomas in death were his mother, Olga Brown; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his son Cale.
A time of remembrance and celebration of Thomas's life will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 10 at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Burial will be held in Columbia Falls, Mont., in August.
