Thousands of "undeliverable" checks from IRS waiting for Minnesotans, North Dakotans
The IRS is holding onto thousands of economic stimulus checks and tax rebates for Minnesotans and North Dakotans that have been deemed "undeliverable" by the postal service.
IRS Spokeswoman Carrie Resch told WDAY Radio News that in Minnesota there are 4,000 checks totaling $2.5 million.
In North Dakota, there are 600 checks totaling more than $350,000.
Resch said you can go to the IRS web site to find out if you're on the list of those that have money coming to you.
And she said it would be a good idea to do that soon.
Resch said the best way to avoid problems with an "undeliverable" check is to have it direct deposited into your checking account.
